Blanket Bog workshop and field Trip

On Friday the 25th October, the senior pupils learned all about Blanket Bogs from Hertitage in schools Specialist Michael Coughlan from The Heritage Council. We learned a Blanket Bog habitat supports a rich diversity of species including several rare plants and vulnerable species and provides an essential feeding and breeding habitat for wetland birds like the curlew. Also that Blanket Bogs are important for climate change mitigation. We enjoyed our field trip , where we completed a peatland survey and discussed our findings.
