Glencastle NS School Improvement Plan
Report for School Community

A school self-evaluation of teaching and learning in the area of Language and Numeracy was undertaken during June 2019 to help develop our School Improvement Plan for 2019 -2020. We reviewed our previous plan before setting targets for our new plan.

Outcomes of our last improvement plan from 2013 to 2019
-
Problem Solving - A common approach and modelled teaching has resulted in improved results in the area of problem-solving.
-
Math Language – The use of a common mathematical vocabulary throughout the school has resulted in improved standardised test results.
-
Comprehension Strategies – Building Bridges was used throughout the school with varying standards of success. We hope to reengage with this in year 2 of our plan.

This is what we are going to focus on to improve our practice further
-
Learning tables – focus on various strategies and varied content.
-
Sentence Structure – Develop sentence writing in all classes.

We intend to tie in our new digital plan with this School Improvement Plan to help us achieve our targets and to allow a varied content for parents involvement with pupils learning.
